sebkaine Posted May 8, 2015 Share Posted May 8, 2015 Hi Guys , I am trying to make @fexternal work on a simple cloth sim. i just want that my force push only in the area paint in white. So far nothing look to work and i haven't be able to find a proper exemple on how to use it ! So i must be doing something wrong ... but i need to be sure ... If you have any idea to fix this that would be great ! Thanks for your time Cheers E fexternal_cloth.hip Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
anim Posted May 8, 2015 Share Posted May 8, 2015 (edited) strange, neither v@force nor v@fexternal work for me either with FE solver not even POP forces as they used to (H14.0.292) haven't tried newest build, but if that's the case, submit a bug Edited May 8, 2015 by anim 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
sebkaine Posted May 9, 2015 Author Share Posted May 9, 2015 Thanks Tomas, it's good to know that it's a bug cause i wasn't sure that my setup was correct ! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jason Posted May 9, 2015 Share Posted May 9, 2015 I think some of these changed classes -- point to vertex attributes and such. Perhaps this is compounding the issue? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
sebkaine Posted May 9, 2015 Author Share Posted May 9, 2015 Thanks for your input jason ! i've try to convert @fexternal from a point to a vertex attribute, but it doesn't work also ! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mattvfx Posted May 9, 2015 Share Posted May 9, 2015 (edited) same here 14.0.201 . the fem solver ignores both fexternal and force attributes. yes looks like a bug Edited May 9, 2015 by mattvfx Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
DLCool Posted May 9, 2015 Share Posted May 9, 2015 I agree with you men. It is a bug. In H13 these attributes work well. But let me introduce you: The Crutch ! A bit of lyrics: v1 = v0 + at F = ma -> a = F/m v1 = v0 + F/m*t v1 - velocity at the next timestep v0 - current velocity a - acceleration m - mass F - force t - timestep So if mass equal to one we have v1 = v0 + F*t And a refrain; fexternal_cloth1.hipnc Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Jason Posted May 14, 2015 Share Posted May 14, 2015 A wild bug fix appears! Wednesday, May 13, 2015 Houdini 14.0.333: Fixed support for the external force attribute in the finite element solver. Fixed bug that sometimes prevented DOP forces from properly adding up in the finite element solver. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
sebkaine Posted May 14, 2015 Author Share Posted May 14, 2015 well i submit the bug on tuesday ... that is fast ! i am wondering if i should submit the issue i have with SBD spring constrain. http://forums.odforce.net/topic/22409-sbd-spring-constrain-broken-in-h14/?hl=spring i am not 100% sure that SBD spring should work with cloth, but houdini create all the connection and display them correctly, it is just that the constrain is not working. the cloth attach constrain work nicely as a replacement. but do you think it's also a Bug ? and that it should be submited ? Jason Posted May 14, 2015 Share Posted May 14, 2015 Hm, I think that does sound like bug, yes. Please report it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mattvfx Posted May 14, 2015 Share Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) yes there is a bug with spring constraint relationship node the spring constraint relationship node worked well with FEM h13. the "sbd spring constraint" uses this node internally. the cloth attach constraint doesn´t have a rest lenght attribute so its not a true replacement.
