enquel
Welcome, I have a problem trying to read multi channel EXR files from Houdini into After Effects. The eXtractor plugin in AE does not see any image planes, regardless the setting I try. Changing compression modes of EXR files does not help either. It is a pretty basic functionality. How can I remedy this? Thank you in advance
lukeiamyourfather
Do you see the extra image channels in the Houdini "Image Viewer" application? The eXtractor plugin seems to work fine for me in Adobe CC 2014.
yesyes
also try proexr layer comps, it will automatically create comps for your planes
Atom
I just tested Extractor using CS6 and it works there as well. One thing I did notice is that PrimID and OpId, which appear in the list in the Houdini Image viewer, do not appear in the EXR unless you explicitly add an extra image plane with a VEX variable for those channels. If you set alpha to anything other than (copy), in the Extractor plugin, all color information disappears in After Effects leaving you with a blank image.
