carlo_c
Hey guys so just trying to use the switch solver and I can't seem to get it working. I'm sure it's just something stupid on my part but spent a good bit of last night hitting a brick wall. The example file didn't help too much either. I'm trying to turn a bullet rbd object into a cloth object at a certain frame, I have keyframed the switch value to change at frame 6 but it doesn't seem to do anything. It does change the solver though when I toggle between the switch values. If anyone could be so kind as to take a look at my simple setup and help me out it would be much appreciated! switch_solver_01.hipnc
Atom
If you are animating the switch value make sure to change the companion drop down from Use Default to Set Always.Use Default only grabs the value on frame #1 and Set Always evaluates the companion value on every frame. carlo_c
Hey atom, still no luck unfortunately I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong! I found this topic, which has the setup I'm pretty much after and have begun to look at it. It seems much more complex than the help file example however so I'm just wondering if it's the simplest way to do it!
Atom
There is an example of the switch solver that comes with Houdini, bottom of the Help card for the switch solver. It switches from Cloth to RDB but as far as I can tell, it does not work anymore either in H15.
carlo_c
Yeah that was the help card file I was going with that didn't seem to work properly glad it wasn't just me. I'll have to just go with that setup in the link I posted previously!
Skybar
That example seems to be working fine. The problem is the Fan Force is too weak to be noticeable. Crank it up or replace it with like a Wind Force.
