art3mis
Still very much a Houdini novice, I come from a Unity3d and TouchDesigner background. Because they share the same roots, I think of TouchDesigner as Houdini's realtime '2nd cousin'. Especially in the area of CHOP's. I'm guessing that many of the CHOP tutorials for TD could be carried over almost directly to Houdini. The latest 099 beta even has PBR! Was wondering if any Houdini users reading this have tried exporting data in any way from TD to Houdini? Was also wondering if TD .toe files could somehow be converted to .hip format? edward
There's no direct conversion from .toe to .hip (because toes are too far from the hips ). However, I think you should be able to share .clip files (and possibly even .bclip).
LaidlawFX
TouchDesigner is literally a branch off from Houdini 4.1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TouchDesigner
art3mis
AFAIK a LOT more CHOP tutorials for TD than Houdini.
Guest tar
MacOs version looking very cool - TD has an excellent node graph!
art3mis
Oh cool, just noticed in experimental builds! Only wish they would support a Linux version as well:(
theotheo
TD and Houdini user here. Been using it on set for VFX. Pretty cool software and Derivative are a great bunch of guys.
animatrix
TD seems ahead of its time with certain features, i.e. the network editor. Houdini could use some of these features. They seem to have node thumbnails updating fine while animated, which is a problem for SESI to get it working fast and robust AFAIK. I might be wrong.
