For me it looks like, that (in matt shlians "reliefs") the straight lines changes the direction after every row/column, so it looks like, that the straight lines are defining rhombi. So the other thing might be, that the main random direction should be along the straight lines and the probability that a point is near the center is lower. This just my personal view.
