Andz
Hi guys, this is something I came up with last night after looking at an NPR book. The shader is such a mess that I'm even embarrassed to show it right now. I promess to post it once I rewright it. The image shows some different lighting situations. Cheers,

Andz
Thank you for the nice words guys! Here is the LINK to the book. I haven't had the chance to read it yet, the idea for the shader just came from the picures. I have had a lot of interest in NPR for a long time bacause of my background in painting and illustration. So a lot of the information there is on the book I've seen elsewhere (net, publications and CG magazines). Andz
Hi, Andz.Any luck with accomplishing your intriguing shader? Hi MadJestic, I really wanted to rework on this, write comments, tutorial, etc. But I ended up with so much work to do lately that I just dont have the time for now. So I'm uploading the file as it is, to any one who wishes to develop it further or use it as a basis for another one (maybe to render out some ivy ). ***Please forgive me the mess that the file is right now. I've no experience in shader writing and worked on it on my free time. *** Edit *** If I remember well, I think I borrowed the edge outline stuff from sibarrick's post. npr_01.hipnc

Hey, Andz Why are you so shy of your shader layout? imo - some arrangement into subnetworks/colored net boxes could certainly embellish the overall look, but on the whole your shader looks nice and readable. Plus - a very neat solution, so simple that it certainly should make everyone looking at it say "Damn! Why it wasn't me to invent it the first?!.." Thanks for sharing! Cool shader =)
Andz
Thank you man. The shader still misses an UI and Mapping Parameters. **edit** And I'd also love to see some cool renderings that you guys can come up with. Cheers!
Guest Swann
So I'm uploading the file as it is, to any one who wishes to develop it further or use it as a basis for another one (maybe to render out some ivy ). And it's all in VOPS Thank You.

Guest Swann
Hey Swann, please upload images of tests you make :-) Are you really REALLY SURE that you want to see this ? Is the world ready for This ? Ok, you wanned, you got it Not a good Idea for very complicated/displaced geo( I will not show you displacment results, they are too scary ) To the camera I applied shader with all soft dots connections unpluged, I havent found yet good setting with softdots to render good picture with camera.
