We have just create a companion products page at sidefx.com to help you learn about other products that work well with a Houdini pipeline:

http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com...&Itemid=307

If you know of any other products that we should be including on this list please let us know.

Robert

PS - The hdri images mentioned at the bottom will be available in tomorrow's build of 9.1.

That's a great thing, thanks!

I have an observation: the SynthEyes text tells about the .clip export feature, which is true. However, the software also exports .cmd script which create an animated camera and all the trackers in the scene as null. Much more useful than only the .clip export option.

Yes.

Thats good! (I assume they've been added post-.131 since I dont seen them yet)

I would suggest two things for added usability, if I may:) :

1. Put them under a further subdirectory like $HFS/houdini/pic/env

2. Add a new "Environment Map Light" tool in the toolshelf that automatically checks the "Use full sphere for Environment" and the "Use Area Map" and opens the file-browser on that directory immediately.

I am now accepting bribes. How badly do you want it ;)

Great site Robert, thanks!

Boujou matchmover also supports Houdini.

(It states H 4.1 - but perfectly works with 8.2 - last version I've checked).

sy.

It would be great if you could do a quick test to see if it's still compatible with H9, or 9.1

I could only test Boujou version 2 (current is 4. I think) and indeed hip file created loads to Houdini 9.1.125 perfectly (with minor warnings).

Note that camera will be the old 8 style. It works but all params are old-school-like. Not sure if this won't break anything . But simply transferring channels could help.

cheers,

sy.

drqueue render manager - http://www.drqueue.org/

also supports Houdini with a submit script.

Integration in to the gui - like post-render script to submit - is possible via python binding.

what's most interesting:

if talking to people about houdini one sometimes get's the impression houdini is a isolated freak show.

Actually there is a wide spectrum of 'companion products' - and not just one for each task.

I was really surprised.
