CodeMasterMike
Hello! I was just curious which program/s people use to create plugins, SOP and whatnots? Do people sit in notepad, Visual Studio or what other programs can be nice to use for creating things with HDK.
sibarrick
I guess that depends how complex your code is... My stuff is all pretty simple so I just use textpad.

almatea
if i use gvim for external expression editor, text in new window of gvim is empty. for example, in gedit all is ok. anbody have same trouble? gnome, debian lenny
edward
I think gvim backgrounds itself by default. Try setting your environment variable from "gvim" to "gvim -f" instead.

lisux
I think gvim backgrounds itself by default. Try setting your environment variable from "gvim" to "gvim -f" instead. I use gvim also. Hard to get used but impossible to work without it for me. BTW, I know non vim users won't be interested on this, but will be really cool to have vim integrated in the Expression Editor, or any code editor inside Houdini. As an option of course, but there is a lot of TDs used to gvim and variants and I miss it a lot when using any of the code editors in Houdini. edward
Heh ... If a vi mode was added to Houdini, then it will have to be vi mode in ALL text input fields .... You'd be forced to hit 'i' just to type in 1.0 in a parameter <evil laugh> PS. Real life story ... I once coded an entire 4 month term on a project where you had to telnet into a remote server, through like a 2400 baud modem, multiplexed with 2 other people! Even the ksh shell had to be used in vi mode for that to be viable.

Or just continuing the vi mania make a modal 3d viewport
almatea
>I once coded an entire 4 month term on a project where you had to telnet into a remote server offtopic, but i yesterday launch x-server on windows xp notebook and through ssh-session connect via wifi network 16 MBit with linux station and launch a houdini remote and it was worked. - > houdini via ssh : ) Edited November 7, 2009 by almatea
