7Losses
Hey all, New to Odforce here and I hope to be around a bit! I'm new to Houdini having only really been using it for about 3 months now. I've been working on an old tutorial on modelling Joan or Arc. Originally it was designed for 3dMax but I thought i'd give it a try in Houdini to learn Houdini's modelling toolset. Here is where I am currently up to. You can follow my previous WIP here: http://3dbuzz.com/vbforum/showthread.php?p...811#post1351811 Cheers Edit: Sorry, not sure about the rules on polygonal nudity Edited March 25, 2008 by 7Losses

Hi SWANN, I've also done that tutorial, it is a cartoon character, that is why the proportions are different. :-) Keep the images coming 7Losses, and welcome to the forum! Marc
Edit: Sorry, not sure about the rules on polygonal nudity I don't think we have any rules... Putting the word in the title should suffice, we're all adults here . Good start though, and welcome to the forums. M
michael
good start! it's always nice to see someone using tutorials aimed at other apps in Houdini... as for polygonal nudity...I'm in favor of it, but thanks for adding it to the title, that's a reasonable way to do it. JDenker
while modeling humans try to get as many references as you can get... also an anatomy book will help you a lot during your progress. also load in some ortho refs into your viewport. watch your neck.. its way to big in x and z. also the head seems kinda strange in some ways to me. its odd how the ear comes out, normally its a smooth blend between the cheek bone and the beginning of the ear. if you are not sure about some areas, you could also go to a mirror and check it at yourself. also watch the shape of the head in general. it looks that the head not belongs to the body. i would love to see that you change the lips also. make them a bit wider. and they are looking a bit stitched. and i know.. its a tricky area but i guess you also need to rework the knees. im looking forward in seeing some updates with more details (ripcage..,etc) i can give you some references, when im home, if you like. hope my crits are not to harsh, Cheers -J Edited March 26, 2008 by JDenker
ofer
Yes, it is a really good start. I also encourage you to see some Digital Tutors modeling tutorials for maya. Most of the tools also exists in houdini, and these are very good tutorials.
