miko3d
hi Guys, I have been having fun with Pyro lately,Im planning to have a nice setup for building steam objects like clouds, train steam etc... till now I found the Pyro shader the most flexible, even though its meant to be used for pyrotecnics. im planning to build a setup to shoot points from an hemisphere radially and inwards against a fluid simulation and have a particle cloud built out of it, then load it to the fire pc slot of the scatter and this way simulate a realistic ambient light scatter for the pyro shader. The phase value works great, but i really want to see how far i can push this shader, im wondering if this is a good plan any ideas would be great! thx
miko3d
here is where im with the steam, by just lighting using spots lights, deep shadows and a positive scatter phase: http://3dtapas.com/HI_h264.mov and here are both the hi and lo res sims next to eachother: http://3dtapas.com/Hi_Lo_h264_2.mov
wolf_cub_one
That looks really nice. My only problem with using pc scatter is that my render times usually triple. Did you find any solutions /workaround to this? cheers

MisterP
best steam ever, would love to see your hip file too! mr.P
Netvudu
I don´t know if it is because of the scattering or the shadows, but that shading looks fantastic. I could be wrong, but I think that shader was researched by Mario Marengo. If you´re lucky enough he might have take a look around here...
