Wolfwood
Every now and then I see some crazy Houdini user bending time and space using Spy. I was wondering how many people actually used it. (That and making useless polls is fun.)
Marc
I put myself down for the third voting option. Mainly because I try my best to block it from memory. So you've actually seen someone other than Mark or Jeff or one of those other crazy SESI guys use spy? weird...

I know some of the people that worked on Monster by Mistake are Spy users too....learned it by osmosis I suppose.

sibarrick
Spy rocks. If you don't have linux shells it way quicker to navigate than dos, so for commandline on windows it rocks. And you get pretty colours for your text, lovely......
stevenong
There should be another option in the poll for "I know what Spy is but never tried it out".
old school
There are two types of shell users: Those that use spy. Those that are still in denial. Spy rules! VI(m) Rules. They both use essentially the same keystrokes. A win-win situation.
Mario Marengo
Yup! Prowd SPY user over here! Viva Spy!
rdms
Spy & Gvim as much as possible. I've used spy ever since it was called 'dragon'. Couldn't imagine navigating any other way.
JColdrick
Bah! I'm using up my annual post to laugh at the face of spy - to tweak the nose of curses-based directory utilities! Don't you people know what !$ means? J.C.
Marc
Wow John... I never figured you would be on the opposing team . Of course, the last part of your post completely baffled me, so I'm not exactly sure who's team you are on. M

This strange od[forum] environment confused him and made him talk in strange ways. If this had been the Sesi forum he would have simply said.... old school
Yeah I knew about JC and spy for quite some time. Pricey too! Yes they both are in spy denial. Lookey Price doesn't even use vim! He uses emacs. Eew. Duck and cover...

Lookey Price doesn't even use vim! He uses emacs. Eew. Duck and cover... 22812[/snapback] LIES! LIES I SAY! After having Ed harrass me for months on end I eventually said screw you emacs and gave vim a try. And you know what? I like it a lot better....I don't spend half my day holding down meta keys. Hell I even donated some Euro's to the vim project.
JColdrick
Bah! I use next year's annual post early to melvin the shorts of emacs! It is a toaster, not an editor! Vim rulez! (!$ just means the last parameter on the previous command line in csh - and that along with file completion and "cd -" suddenly makes the shell three times faster than spy...for *real* men, that is! ) J.C.
