3dome
as a start turn off any disturbance, turbulence, shredding, sharpening, confinement, play with Temperature diffusion, maybe add a gasblur if you are still unhappy use that as a base and shape the sim from there Edited July 1, 2019 by 3dome
DaJuice
This is a great tutorial for candle flame. It's not in English, but easy enough to follow along. If I remember correctly the "Timescale" setting of your pyro sim is one of the most important parameters for getting away from that campfire look.
toadstorm
Honestly, it doesn't make much sense to use pyro for a simple candle flame. Just make the shape procedurally out of polygons or whatever, use procedural noise / bending / etc to wobble the shape, then render it as a volume. You can always do a secondary pyro sim for smoke if you need smoke. It'll be a bazillion times faster to iterate on this way.
