sibarrick
Good to see more vids, hope he keeps it up. Go Jeff ( sorry i mean old school) P.S like the phone going off half way, nice touch of realism. I can just imagine the rest of Sesi trying to sneak around quietly in the background whilst he does the recording.
fxrod
Hi All: I was pleasantly surprised when Side FX's erudite, Jeff Wagner, posted his first blog this week. Jeff has a wealth of knowledge that, until now, hadn't found a venue for sharing with the Houdini community. Jeff is a true Houdini Master and this blog is as if the great Harry himself decided to reveal his tricks. Thanks a million Jeff! Lot's of exciting things to come from Side Effects. -Francisco Rodriguez OOPS! In my excitement, I overlooked the previous post of the same topic. Sorry Arctor! Can any one who attended the sneak preview describe what else was diferent in the UI and workflow?
sibarrick
All they showed was the icons..... And hinted that there were major changes to the workflow, but you would still be able to work as before if you wanted.

Though I only know Houdini for a few weeks I must say I like it. I don't like these funny icons. They are misleading. Georg

Georg Im sure they are still being worked on. Plus, in houdini you do not chose a command by its icon, but by its name. The icon works more as a guide later. Usually in all software that I use I see my self waiting for the Tool Tip to show up.
michael
Does any one know if those icons up on Jeff's blog has anything to do with Houdini's 9 new user iterface? I think they're just in the new 'style' - at least that's what it seems like from what I can remember the new icons looking like.... I think the intention is to make the interface a bit more attractive and more intuative to use...so cleaning up the icons is part of that... sibarrick
As Sesi said they want to stop developers designing icons... always a good thing.

robert.magee
The fourth in Jeff's Digital Asset series is now up: http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com...&Itemid=216 (and the icons are randomly selected from the pool of Houdini 9 icons - no hidden meaning just a little hint of the future....)
