ahhh ... sir, checked

booring beginner stuff

Wow dont i feel stupid now, with thoughts like that do you really feel its necessary to voice them and if you really do, it doesn't take much effort to be constructive and tactful so these people who give up their free time to provide people with free content can take your comments into consideration.

But to be honest, should I/or anyone else have expected anything else with that very insightful topic that is "Houdini 9 Is So Shitty". It was nice for you to ask for forgiveness later on in the thread, but the term think before you speak comes to mind.

I thought it was quite challenging and i have yet to see any training material which delivers content in such a good way (although Gnomon and SESI are very good) and i look forward to both the free content and the fundamental classes. Although Gnomon and SESI are very good.

I'm sure he didn't mean to offend, but yeah, c'mon Rafal123, think about what you say.

Personally I'm glad for all new Houdini learning material coming out there. Slowly but surely there will be enough stuff to help people get off the ground easier - which has always been the toughest aspect of this elusive Houdini.

cool

years, ago 3Dbuzz set the foundation for my learning houdini, so its great to see them producing more material :)

if the older stuff is still available, I highly recommend it, although its based off < 9 interface.

they've also made it so easy to download, so thats a plus :)

I couldnt agree with you and aracid more, especially now when the demand is up. There is now a bigger interest in Houdini (im sure partly because of the UI changes) and now more and more content will be made for this demand, more than likely ranging from Begginer all the way to Advanced.

Exciting time!

I agree,

one of the reasons I entered that bridge competition was to give back something to 3dbuzz. I have no doubt they have influenced a lot of people somewhere along their learning path. I think the contest based video tutorial system he has created might work. I personally enjoyed browsing and trying out the old oddforce challenges for myself and then going to have a look at other solutions. I miss this and I hope buzz comes up with a variety of contests, both for beginners and more advanced users. This was aimed at beginner to intermediate and for that target group I believe it to be good training material.

I also believe in the "strength in numbers": there will be more beginners and after a while they will gain more knowledge and solve more problems on their own. Since there are more users chances are higher of them posting solutions or maybe even creating video tutorials of their own as has been provided by Sidefx. There is potentially a rise in "newbie" questions on the forums, but this is where training material for beginners can save some forum space.

the best thing about the 3d buzz stuff is that they are heaps good at getting people into the houdini way of thinking, their tutorials may have been beginner stuff but they really show the possibilities of the software, and I think that is one of the best things, just my personal opinion but i think most people coming into houdini already know some type of animation software, and they really just need to get their heads adjusted to a different type of thinking, and 3dbuzz is very good at that

Everyone's got to start somewhere. As much as we'd like to dive into really advanced topics straight away, you have to understand that if we did so, we'd have a lot more people complaining that there wasn't enough introductory material to get them to the point where they could follow the advanced stuff (in fact, the general concensus for those who haven't used Houdini before is that even the videos we have just released were a little too advanced (which we agree with, and have real beginner content in the works!)).

If you're lucky enough to be at a level where you don't benefit from such videos, then maybe you could take the time to help those out who do need those videos, rather than complaining that they're "boring".

As for everyone else - Thanks for the support :) . We're gonna try and keep the videos flowing as often as possible, so you'll be seeing more content in the near future, which (over time) will become more and more advanced :)

Thanks,

those bridge videos are pretty good actually. as "how to implement vex in our daily life" is my major interest at the moment, the video helped me lot. especially after the 7th video. solving a problem is the main issue in houdini and those videos have many clues in it. i guess i'll be happy "vex"ing soon.

step by step we are getting there,no worries.

The addition of videos from 3D Buzz is fantastic news. While Houdini is known as a high-end package the lack of introductory material has always made it difficult for people to get started. While the buzz material quickly goes beyond a beginner level, it is great to see that new users are being supported with these materials.

There will always be a call for new learning material at all levels. The hunger for more info is great and we are working with as many partners as possible to meet people's needs. I say hats off to all of these great companies that are helping to make Houdini more accessible to more artists.

Decent videos I think - very easy to follow and at a good enough pace to stay interesting.

Great job - keep em coming...
