  3. Senior Systems Administrator, SPIN VFX JOB DESCRIPTION SPINVFX, Toronto is looking to fill a Linux / Unix Systems Administrator position to work in our dynamic digital visual effects studio. Our primary application platform is Fedora Linux, with a substantial proportion of Mac OS X and Windows 7 machines. The selected candidate will join the team of talented Systems Administrators supporting our VFX production team. See us at http://www.spinvfx.com/ RESPONSIBILITIES -Linux / Unix Systems Administrator (Hardware / Software) -Technical support and general trouble shooting for commercial and custom applications on all platforms -General system administration for account set up with Idap server and mail server -Storage administration (cleanup, rsyncs etc) -Tape backup administration -Infrastructure maintenance of all Linux servers -Firewall and switch configuration when needed -General I.T. support and maintenance duties JOB REQUIREMENTS -5+ years experience as a system administrator. This position interprets, conceptualizes and executes photo real digital effects, simulations and solutions that meet technical and aesthetic standards for our high level VFX projects. This role works in conjunction with the VFX Supervisors and team leads to ensure shots can be delivered to the very highest standard. The ideal candidate is an innovative and strategic Effects Artist with thorough knowledge of technical disciplines required for our dynamic VFX Studio. RESPONSIBILITIES Skilled ability to use an array of commercial and proprietary software tools to produce photorealistic simulations of real-world phenomena while developing innovative solutions to complex problems. Ability to perform visual and analytical solutions to implement and optimize approved looks. Light and render dynamic simulations, create working test composites for review by the supervision team. Work in partnership with Supervisors, Lighters and Compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard. Ability to align and self direct your work with schedules and creative expectations while maintaining the highest level of integrity of work. Established experience monitoring and controlling deliveries and meeting production deadlines in a VFX studio environment.
