dulo
Maybe everybody except me already knew, but I was really surprised when I realized that it was possible to copy node networks from one instance of houdini into another with ctrl-c ctrl-v !! Just wanted to let the world know about this fascinating feature ;-)
Sierra62
Works great, unless you try and copy from apprentice to the full version.
michael
copy is also context sensitive... you can copy objects, then SOPs, then CHOPs then paste into different contexts
lukeiamyourfather
Houdini creates a temporary file on the drive with the network contents, like Michael said it's context sensitive so there are files for SOP, VOP, SHOP, etc. Emailing the files is a handy way to share networks with other users if you don't necessarily want to send the whole scene. kleer001
What Michael said. You can simultaniously have SOPs, CHOPs, ROPs, expressions, etc all in your copy buffer at the same time. And Houdini will keep them all sorted.
Guest tar
oh - the cool thing too is looking inside the copy buffer files i.e. cpio -i -vd < DOP_copy.cpio
ftaswin
can't we do the same thing with nodes in hipnc files? copy them and paste them in my hip file?

So you can do work in Apprentice then work in a commercial version... hmmmm sounds dodgy ya?
kleer001
You can copy paste to and from hipnc to hip but it makes your hip file hipnc. They got that stuff locked down.
