I worked my way through the vellum hairball stretch tutorial.

Here's a variation where lines are generated inside each letter of a remeshed font using the findshortestpath node. This let's you pull apart a word.

Building on chapter 14 of the particle planet tutorial series posted on SideFX, I extended the scene to detect when the particles escape the surface. After they age two seconds, a popseek draws them back to the surface.
White lines never leave the surface, lavender are free roaming, and yellow are free roaming aged particles heading back to the surface.


There are lots of noise control to vary the speed and timing.

I worked through the room map setup inside the Houdini 20 help. Here's an example file setup to  produce a Karma render using the default room map. I'm attaching the roommap_debug.exr file so you'll have an example of how to create your own room maps. Just remember to preserve the alpha channel on boxes marked S1-S4. It would be nice if SideFX would post a few starter room maps to the Content Library.
