Marc Posted November 3, 2008 Share Posted November 3, 2008 Hey guys On the week of our first video tutorial I thought I'd take some time to discuss the future of od[force] with you all. If you've been around a while you'll know that we have one of the best communities out there. I think between all of us we've managed to create a great place to come and learn or just hang out with other Houdini nerds whenever we want, so thanks for that . From our side, along with the interviews we currently have, we're hoping to create more tutorials and training for you and start adding in case studies and all those other good things you've been clamouring for. Unfortunately (and you knew this part was coming didn't you ), we're all subject to the whims of the market and.. er.. moving overseas with a frightening 10:1 exchange rate. ok, well that last one wasn't a whim, but you get the idea. So while I was hoping I would never have to raise the dreaded 'D' word, sadly its time has come. I would like to mention though that everything we have on the site currently will remain free and we're committed to not changing the tone of the site at all (barring this one thing, of course). We may choose to sell tutorials at a later date, but we'll be embarking on some bridge crossing when that day comes. For all you who are visiting or new to the site, then please feel free to make use of it as much as you want, there isn't now and never will be a fee to use the site. For everyone who is a regular though, or who has been coming for a while, we'd love it if you could help out by donating a little to the cause. If everyone who can, gives a little then we'll have more than enough to continue what we do for a long time. If you have any concerns or questions then please feel free to comment in this thread. And I just want to reiterate the point that don't feel like you have to donate. If you can, then that's awesome and it's helping tremendously, but if not well that's cool, we understand life happens .
