  1. Getting closer to a new surreal idea I had in mind for a long time...Walls with Eyes! Here is my initial test for a small section of the wall. hoping to add in more detail and deformations to the rig the wall skin rig. I made the entire model and rig process combined into a single HDA. May need to optimize the HDA further to speed up things. Instead of using deformers to the bend the grids I started off with using curves and a combination of ray intersects and vex to create the eyelids, after creating the initial shape I was able to skin the curves using the Skin SOP, this gave me more control on how I can design the character, without worrying about intersection polygons and normals. The curves also acted as representatives for each loop on the wall and so I was able to control them in wrangles through multiple technics in vex.
  2. Hello, i'm new here. I'm a 21 years old student and I have a VFX class every 2 weeks… I have a lot of difficulties with Houdini tho. Our first project is t break a wall with a ball and then put a texture on the wall. I really tried but everytime something didn't works. So I come here for help. I'll let you the project Houdini, a screeshot of the nods and the textures. There"s supposed to have an Arnold light but I don't have Arnold at home so. 3. 4. Hey everyone, I'm trying to blow an object through a wall. I need a lot of control over the art direction. I have been doing my look dev in C4D where I can paint active vs passive objects. I can also have the active objects asleep until there is a collision detected. I have attached my working Houdini file. I haven't been able to figure out to paint active vs passive objects, so my workaround has been to alter the glue strength based on a color attribute that I created in the constraint network. This seems to work okay, but the wall get's knocked over when the collider goes through it. How can I pin this wall down to the ground? The tuts I've found all seem outdated for H16. Any help is most appreciated. Thanks! -Brian
  5. Any idea how I can add procedurally a brick wall structure to this circular watchtower?

  7. Guys, I haven't used Houdini in such a long time. Finally i have a project that i believe houdini is best to use for it. My boss is going to design a wall with different crystals hanging from it, in a pattern. I am attaching the pdf,dwg and dxf of one of the designs. I remember you can open a dxf file in houdini if you convert the dwg in lines in autocad. What i want to create is an asset or something that reads this dxf and places the crystals accordingly. Lets say i have 3 crystals A,B and C (different sizes) in 3d. I want to read my dxf and then copy/instance each model based on the dxf drawing. The reason i want to do this is because my boss will create a lot of options until he makes his mind and i dont want to do this manually in max. The download link for the drawings: http://we.tl/l1hEaLeF8S Thanks in advance, Valentino PS: crystal_A.pdf
