Guest mantragora
... Houdini usage for games creation in Europe?Couple years ago there was a post by GuerillaGames, than there is a ben who works in Ubi. I think I saw someone working for EA, but not in Europe. So, are there any other places on the old continent where it's used? How popular it's? Are there many more this kind of jobs than in 2008? Is there a life anymore in Europe or maybe everyone moved their ass to Canada?------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Game companies in Europe that are using Houdini:(by type of work, company can be in more than one category)Procedural: Guerilla Games Electronic Arts Sumo Digital Ubisoft Microsoft Soho (I think) VFX: Guerilla Games RARE Criterion Remedy Houdini Engine: Guerilla Games Microsoft Soho (I think) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Game companies in US that are using Houdini:(by type of work, company can be in more than one category) Procedural: Certain Affinity------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ VFX companies in Europe that are using Houdini with game engines: Axis Animation Edited September 13, 2015 by fântastîque Mântragorîè
djwarder
Would love to know the same info. Heard Sumo Digital are looking for ppl up in Sheffield (UK), but apart from them & Guerilla I'd be interested to know where else uses it! Skybar
I'm not entirely sure, but I believe Houdini was used in Battlefield 4. If it was Dice or some other company who did that work though I wouldn't know.
Guest mantragora
I'm curious about Houdini Engine usage too. Are there any companies that jumped onto bandwagon?
Guest mantragora
Another one that works in Ubisoft is MagnusL3D.
Guest mantragora
Freek works in EA. Coen Klosters AKA "cklosters" on SESI forum is in GuerilaGames. But those are all known places. Any other? And are those places only hire like one Houdini guy or maybe they have bigger needs and bigger Houdini teams? Guest mantragora
Soooo... couple months later... with Houdini Engine in the wild... anything changed? Come out from the caves. I know you are out there! SPEAK!!!
eetu
I just started yesterday at Remedy on an effects consultant kind of deal - I expect I will be using Houdini for quite a bit, but it all remains to be seen. No real Houdini usage here yet, though. (except some small things I did earlier as an outsource)

Guest mantragora
She can't say much because of NDA's. And with free Houdini version they really can't say/don't know who tests Houdini Engine. Edited February 12, 2014 by mantragora
freaq
I'm going to try and find out how much I can divulge, but EA is doing some pretty extensive stuff. I'll elaborate here later.
ben
I can't say much either, but Ubi is doing more extensive stuff than EA More seriously, there's really a growing interest (and use) for Houdini/H-Engine here.
Guest mantragora
Ok, but can you say how many positions there are in those companies? One Houdini guy or more?
Guest mantragora
I'll elaborate here later. It's 17 now. Does it qualify as later?
freaq
Sorry I got into an accident, so hence my tardiness: but I requested to be allowed to reveal the info, however I have been told not to elaborate, but I can say taht my employer is moving forward at several studios with a fairly consolidated effort.we are seeing production efficiency gains and there are defenitally some new developments that have piqued our interests... however as you can see from the sideFX website EA has done projects in the past which were built upon a Houdini Backbone (SSX and Tiger for a while) I'm afraid that I cannot elaborate more, however I can say that Houdini will be making more and more of an impact in the gaming scene in relatively short notice. ps: Benoit, I take that challenge Edited February 17, 2014 by freaq
GallenWolf
I really should frequent the forums more...
Guest mantragora
Don't you try to forget about this topic! Any change guys? Are there some new places that joined revolution?
Guest mantragora
No wonder that SESI wants to scrap this project if there is such a low interest in it.
