art3mis
you finally discover you can have more than one instance of Houdini running at the same time:) Been using Houdini for just under a year and I always assumed if I was Flipbooking or rendering a Wedge my machine was basically tied up and I couldn't use Houdini until everything was complete. Now I can be running my OpenGl Wedge ROPs while having another instance of Houdini running to go thru tutorials. Feel like a <suitable expletive here> for not knowing this earlier!

dimovfx
@vlb6 yes, you just have to start it from terminal as long as I remember.
michael
you should be able to have two (or more) instances of Houdini on a mac if you run them from the Terminal when you copy a node(s) in Houdini it writes these nodes to a file in $TEMP so yes it should work on mac

ikoon
Hello, Erwin Santacruz recently wrote about it here:https://houdinitricks.com/multiple-houdini-instaces/ Also quote from there:In the Houdini docs, Side Effects says you need to set the SESI_COPY_SUFFIX environment variable to be able to copy and paste across multiple Houdini instances. However, I did not set this variable and everything seems to be working fine. A quick search didn’t even reveal whether the variable was set or not. Deprecated maybe? Not sure. If I come across more info or if you know a bit more of about this please Tweet me.
