  1. Hello there! I'm trying to create a ship sailing effect on Houdini 17.5 (with Guided Ocean Layer tool). But I'm having lot of issue. - First of all, as you can see on flipbook, I have lot of particles popping up from ship sides. Why it happens? Can't figure out how avoid this problem. - I used the Deforming Object shelf tool for simulating the ship as volume source. However if I choose Volume as Velocity Type on Flip Solver > Volume Motion > Collisions tab, it looks like fluid doesn't interact well with my geo. Basically I have not splashes, even if I select "Use Volume Velocity for Collision" on Flip Object > Collisions. So I need to switch on Point velocity Type in order for me to have good results. Is that a correct way even if my collision source is a Volume? Is it better to treat collision geometry as volume or mesh? - Is there a way to avoid splashes to slide on surface? I tried to increase the Velocity Blend (on Flip Solver > Particles Motion > Droplets) with no results. - Lastly, I'd like to achieve a good results regarding wave trails (see pictures). Basically I have too rounded and large waves from the ship prow. I'd live to have more V Shaped waves. My scene is more or less in real scale (meters). I used a 0.8 Time Scale value in FLIP Solver in order for me to have good trails, but cannot achieve the desired result. Any help will be really appreciated. Thank you so much for your time. 2. Hi there, I'm having lot of headaches! I made an extended ocean flip simulation and, once I convert the particles into a mesh, I would like to bake the surface geometry displacement as texture. I tried to transfer velocities to Cd through VOP and use COPs for bake out the color map, but I wasn't able to do it. Basically I'd like to achieve the same result of Ocean Evaluate node in which I can export texture and choose the Cusp to be in alpha. Do you think is it possible to do that?
  3. Hello ! I'm trying to add temperature to a flip sim, but it doesn't seem to work well... I have bubbles going through the particles and affecting them with their velocity, but the temperature doesn't seem to be added. Each of these bubbles/strands/thingy are supposed to be white. The bubbles are converted to a VDB, with wich I specify to transfer vel and temperature (temperature's been set to a static float value prior to it). Scene included below. Thanks ! temperature_flip_test.hipnc
  4. Hello, everyone - I'm making a flip simulation , created manually than i tried to add white water from the shelf tool and i had a problem with that, So i created a white water from shelf in another project, see how it works , and recreated it in my project and THE PROBLEM IS foam sticking in air . i've attached projectfile THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWERS . How to create this behavior in a simulation, without fungus. What would be spread flip simulation evenly with a residual slowdown. Like on video ice.hip
  6. I use real scale model of the ship, real speed, but simulaition of the fluid looks like in slow motion or like a very dense. But im not using viscosity its 0. There is some trick for it or default parameters of the flip is wrong?
  7. These are some Fun works created during my spare time. Animation is from maya as alembic file. I used trail sop to calculate velocity of the motion FLIP MAN SMOKE MAN
  8. Hi, I kind of new into Houdini, I been study by my own for almost one year ... The problem that I'm facing right now is that I can not make the bubbles to work into a splash tank (I need it in a splash tank due that is part of a scene that is using splash Tank), I creating a variable for the density and transfer that value with some particles. the setup works fine with a FlipTank but once I tried with the splash tank it stop working, I have also try RBD collision but it didn't work as expected. I'll really appreciate any help that you can give or if you have a better way to approach in how to make bubble in the splash tank I'll be more than happy to hear it. Thanks. Carlos
  9. Hi everyone, I’m pretty new to Houdini, so please bear with me. I want to try making a little boat passing through a body of water. Now I know how to use the boat to affect the water and create the wake, but I also want the boat to be affected by the water: I’d like for the boat to rock with the water’s waves. Is it even possible for an RBD object to be affected by a flip simulation and if so how does it work? Or would I have to animate it myself? I’d be grateful for any help you can give me Thanks in advance! Cheers
