  1. Hi there! Houdini noob here ^^ Some days ago I found this image on the internet and I really liked it so I thought about trying to replicate it but maybe animating it hehe to me it seemed like it could be made using curl noise fields so I followed the entagma's vex 101 tutorial and I manage to make this little animation as a test, and I really liked it. I think is pretty close to the image, BUT i have 2 issues with it that i don't really know how to fix or adjust a little, so i was wondering is maybe some of you guys could help me a bit or at least guide me to the right path. https://imgur.com/a/wyg2zMS First: Looping it, is it possible to loop The curlnoise or the curlxnoise? Or is there any other noise function that would produce a similar result but easier to loop Second: Is there any way to soften the curlnoise behavior in these spots? https://imgur.com/a/rLB40Hf My best idea so far i just placing the camera in a place where these intersections aren't in frame haha but would love to know if it's possible at least to make those somewhat less dramatic? 2. Hey there! I was wondering if anyone here know if this wonderful tutorial from Entagma can be replicated in Vellum. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  3. Right now I have one group "start" that takes a point on the surface, then a gropu by range "end" that takes 3 points. Using shortest path to draw curves from start to these 3 endpoints. Followed Entagma "shortest path" tutorial by Ben Watts, This question was asked before, """" In fact the resulting "growing curves" have point number changing every frame and I can't manage to "sort" the points so that their number don't change anymore. any idea? """" but what Im trying to do is spawn leaf geos along the Carve sop, so I need the Carve sop, only thing is the Carve sop seems to be screwing the points around.
  4. Hi Everyone, Entagma have just released a new video to create Color Dust Explosion which is really great! (so far) They are using a Volume Rasterize Attributes node which is new in Houdini 17. Has anyone done this tutorial or have any idea if there is a 16.5 way of doing it? Knowing SideFX, they probably merged multiple nodes into this node for simplicity maybe but i just cant work it out. Thanks All, Check the video out if you haven't already: http://www.entagma.com/production-setup-walkthrough-color-dust-explosion
  5. Hi folks, I recently saw this great tutorial from Entagma: http://www.entagma.com/houdini-17-quicktip-packing-geometry-using-the-uv-layout-sop/ It uses the UV layout SOP to pack geometry. My question is: How would I modify this technique to pack seperate words, as opposed to individual letters? Any pointers greatly appreciated!
  6. Hi everyone, I had put together this tutorial based on a n old experiment I had done. People kept asking about the build, but I had since lost the original project. Recently I had found an old backup, so decided to explain how I did things. You can view the article and video tutorial on ProVideoCoalition here: https://www.provideocoalition.com/houdini-vex-point-manipulation/ When I had originally made the project over a year ago, I was following along with Entagma's VEX geometry tutorial. I then ventured out on my own and starting modifying, adding my own stuff, and transforming it. Ended up creating a maze'esque grid pattern, a vertical stripe system with custom UI controls, and a nebula'esque looking design. Each build using the same geometry source object. It was a good learning exercise.
  7. We are happy to announce an unique opportunity to experience a live Masterclass with Entagma's Manuel & Moritz. http://everythingprocedural.com/ https://www.facebook.com/everythingprocedural https://twitter.com/everythingproc >>> Preceding the Everything Procedural conference, NHTV will host a two-day SideFX Houdini Masterclass by Entagma's Manuel & Moritz. This is a unique opportunity to learn, meet and work with the best mentors in the field. Day 1: PBD Techiques - Manuel Casasola Merkle Although PBDs are called "grains" in Houdini, they offer far more possibilities than just simulating your average sand castle. Wires, Cloth, even fluids can be efficiently simulated using PBDs. Not only that but they come in handy when it comes to numerical problems such as surface packing. Manuel will give an in-depth look into how to set up multiple production proven PBD setups, covering not only the logic behind Houdini's grain system but also how it works under the hood and how to take advantage of its architecture. Day 2: Volume Techniques - Moritz Schwind One of the most fascinating aspects of Houdini is the deep implementation of volumes into the software. Be it geometry creation, simulation or shading & rendering - volumes can play a vital role in your projects. With tools such as VDBs and openCL at your disposal in Houdini, you gain control over what (if not revolutionize) is going to change your workflow. Moritz walks you through his favourite techniques when using volumes in Houdini, including advanced topics such as volume procedurals and working with volumes in openCL. The Masterclass will be a two-day event (both 9:00-17:00) and take place on Monday April 23rd and Tuesday April 24th. We have only limited places. >>>
  8. Hello all I have a primary question.I'm watching new entagma tutorials(polygarden). the sort node only functions for point. But i need it to function on the primitives actually! I just started with houdini so I dont know that much.I also changed the button for primitives from the left tab. So any suggestion?
  9. Hello everyone, I have a question regarding Entagma "shortest path" tutorial by Ben Watts ( same question could apply to Entagma Naive Path Finding ) In fact the resulting "growing curves" have point number changing every frame and I can't manage to "sort" the points so that their number don't change anymore. any idea ? thanks a lot. shortestPath.001.hip
