@mattvfx Yeah, not getting it on this Siggraph 2018. Only getting a sneak peak on a new feature called as Poly Draw : "Sneak Peek - PolyDraw 1.0 " on August 16.
Possibly Houdini 17's sneak peak will come later in September or may be even later? Who knows, just keep waiting.

would be cool to fire up houdini projects pressing a key to force the manual mode, avoiding load times

1) Take the guy who is responsible for boolean and polyreduce sop

2) Put him into the cellar

3) Give him 16.7times more money

4) Force him to rewrite all the sop  nodes

5) Release H 17.1

That sounds oddly specific... And only 17 point one for a total SOP rewrite? 8-o

You can call it Houdini Millennium if you want - I'm open to discussion :)

EDIT: Just don't name it Houdini 14.5 or similar. It would be misleading.

>> H17 Sneak Peek - PolyDraw 1.0 | Thur | Aug 16 | 1:00 PM
Wishing you could use TopoBuild for modeling and not only for rebuilding high-res geo? We will take a look at an early reveal of a new tool for modeling in Houdini, which is currently under development. This tool allows you to draw geometry and build on either existing geometry or from nothing, in an empty scene.

Sculpting?

New super-fast and rock-solid opencl renderer for sure.

What does a PolyDraw SOP Node has to do anything with a renderer?
It's definitely something like the PolyDraw in 3ds Max mentioned by @Mandrake0!

You don't see it? It's an engine which DRAWs POLYgons to the pixel buffer.

Ps.: Hope die last

Oh, now I get what you meant by that.

You don't happen to have the prints for the Maya 1.0 > Maya 4.0 out of curiosity ?

If it's anything like this, I hope it places the modeling nodes in a sub-network rather then on the main network; tools like these can add hundreds of nodes within minutes and to have your network view polluted with edit, modify nodes would be horrendous.

@cinnamonMetal, well i do but not in digital format, it's on printed version of cinefex and computer graphic world magazine. You have and ipad app that sell old cinefex issue for only 5 bucks, lot of nice Maya and XSI ads there, sesi ad were kinda minimalist at the time. Maya best ad period were beetween 1999 and 2005 ... before the arrival of the dark ages.  I will send you a PM with some few i have find online. and i will stop talking about Maya on a Houdini nerds forum, i think it will be a clever idea if i want to avoid any stoning scenario ...
