kumpa
Hehehehe, there is new version of lightwave coming called lightwave core, they were supposed to have live online presentation but their servers failed and after a while i got a call from my friend telling me that they managed to put their servers back online, so i was able to catch very last part of presentation and it looked horrible. lisux
looks like the just re-invnted the wheel http://www.ustream.tv/channel/newtek-coreii Basically they need to reinvent the wheel cos Lightwave archtecture is soooooo old. The thing is, are they going to add something new to the 3D scene? At the moment there are only words, let see if we get something new. And the other thing is if is there is enough time to recover users for them, cos now maybe the new archotecture needs some time to be stable enough, this is the hard thing when you need to rebump your product. Hopefully Newtek unleash something new to the 3D scene
Symbolic
Could not see any of the "LightWave CORE" stuff... I saw some screengrabs but they looked bad. I do not know what is going on at Newtek but this seems to be their last chance to survive. Edited February 5, 2009 by Symbolic
Netvudu
I think it will be very good for Lightwave. They
Marc
I just watched the presentation... and is it just me, or does it look like Prisms with modeling (and tearoff menus). They even have a twist OP... sweet . M P.S. I'm not making any comments about the quality of the software since I've never used it... but that presentation video was good for a laugh. drokkar
They added it to their website. The Reveal videohttp://www.newtek.com/core/ I'll admit my interest was piqued when the phrase 'hardcore' started getting bandied about, but other than that, I didn't see anything that Houdini and Maya haven't had already for years. If that stuff is 'new' for lightwave users, I feel bad for them.

Don't get this impression, actually in our industry this is a fact. But ... no way

symek
The problem is implementation, not ideas. I mean, ideas are crucial but are also free, specially if you can freely take it from others, like Softimage did. Saying "graph architecture" or (my favorite) "GPU aware" (sic!), says absolutely nothing. Apparently Newtek needs funds to get work done. I highly suspect, all the rumor is about that. They need these 400$ from a couple of thousands of their users to finish that hardcore thing. Edited February 14, 2009 by SYmek
