In PDG network, how can I access Outputs (see image) of a preview node withing Python Processor context? In other words how can I access @pdg_output or workItem.output from Python Processor node? Update Feb 23, 2:13 pm I tried the following but it prints an empty array. for upstream_item in upstream_items: new_item = item_holder.addWorkItem(parent=upstream_item) print(new_item.inputResultData) Update Feb 23, 2:24 pm (Solved) After struggling with this for 4 hours I finally was able to figure it out by reading HDAProcessor code located at C:\Program Files\Side Effects Software\Houdini 18.5.408\houdini\pdg\types\houdini\hda.py It seams like most of default nodes store outputs with item.addExpectedResultData(...) call. So to get output values of a previous PDG node for upstream_item in upstream_items: new_item = item_holder.addWorkItem(parent=upstream_item) parent_outputs = new_item.expectedInputResultData I hope it helps someone.

Hi guy. I had been working with redshift for over a month already and I am in the middle of a proyect. Suddenly when I open the proyect EVERYTHHING failes. There isn´t a single redshift node working: This is my env: PATH = "C:/ProgramData/Redshift/bin;$PATH"<font></font>" HOUDINI_PATH = "C:/ProgramData/Redshift/Plugins/Houdini/17.5.173;&" It looks like it uninstalled itself somehow. I really don´t know what did I do. It just stopped working from one day to another. I tried resenting the pc and reinstalling redshift. I hope you can help me. Thank you

If you've worked for more than a year or two in Visual effects you've likely seen or experienced yourself the dreaded call to get something PERFECT. But, as it is said "Perfect is the enemy of good enough." I bring this up because it's certainly happened to me. I've only recently in the last couple years become really comfortable with saying "screw it, this is fine". But it seems like a skill I should have mastered earlier in my career. So, hopefully a beginner will find this post and read it and save themselves some frustration. Has this ever happened to you? Has this happened recently to you? Have you been chasing down a technical solution to something when something quick and messy and by hand would have probably worked fine? Have you ever simmed and resimmed and tweaked and resimmed again and again trying to find that one set of parameters that would look great when really those few stray particles could have been deleted by hand after it was cached?

Hi there. I have finished my 2nd year in uni and I'm looking to build a killer FX reel by the time I graduate next year. I would greatly appreciate advice on what to work on in the next year and criticism on my current showreel. For the next year at uni, we have to make a short film for which I'll be doing the fx.It is currently centred around a snow leopard in a Mongolian landscape. I was planning to create a custom material point snow solver and am currently learning c++ and the HDK. My current showreel is available here: Thank you and have a good day

Hello Everyone, I'm seeking information and advices about working in Australia (RSP, Iloura, Animal Logic and other great vfx houses). I'm 27 and currently working as junior compositor in Italy since 3 months but I want to emigrate (I'm putting money aside for this). I have to opportunity to obtain a Working-Holiday visa that permits to work 6 months per employer in a one-year window (you could gain another year if you work in farms for 88 days in that year). Could be a good idea to get that visa, travel to Australia and drop by these vfx houses to work there?

Please, I just need a couple of pointers I've been trying to set-up a pyro simulation, have some smoke rise up and collide with an rbdobject. I've uploaded my hip file and written all my questions and problem explanations in there. Plus I think that it's much easier to understand if you have my hip file instead of me trying to explain it here in text form. Please take a look at it. The gist of it is : The smoke has a temperature field. And I've wanted to lower the temperature field of the smoke that comes in contact with the geometry so I've come up with the idea to give the geometry it's own temperature field and tick the temperature merge option on the pyro solver. In order to create the geometries temperature field I plan to make a volume mask to mask out the smoke's temperature field so that i'm only working with the voxels that make up the geometry and then lower their values, the result will then be the geometries temperature field. I've listed all the problems and explanations inside the hip file please take a look Any suggestion is greatly appreciated Thank you Houdini_DOPs_pls_help.rar

... Houdini usage for games creation in Europe? Couple years ago there was a post by GuerillaGames, than there is a ben who works in Ubi. I think I saw someone working for EA, but not in Europe. So, are there any other places on the old continent where it's used? How popular it's? Are there many more this kind of jobs than in 2008? Is there a life anymore in Europe or maybe everyone moved their ass to Canada? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Game companies in Europe that are using Houdini: (by type of work, company can be in more than one category) Procedural: Guerilla Games Electronic Arts Sumo Digital Ubisoft Microsoft Soho (I think) VFX: Guerilla Games RARE Criterion Remedy Houdini Engine: Guerilla Games Microsoft Soho (I think) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Game companies in US that are using Houdini: (by type of work, company can be in more than one category) Procedural: Certain Affinity------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ VFX companies in Europe that are using Houdini with game engines: Axis Animation

Hi, I'm looking for a Houdini Shading/Lighting artist, to share a project with photo-realistic skills needed. This is NOT a volunteer job, it's a paid work and you will be asked to estimate the budget cost. I'm available to tell you more, and to send you some elements to help you to find out more about the project. I have a rough storyboard and an example of film which will be the model of the 3d work. I work as graphic designer and I usually do some simple 2d-3d broadcast motion design for France. You can find some examples of my work here vimeo.com/69952906 Thanks in advance ! Mathieu

I'm looking for a Houdini freelancer, to share a project with particles. I'm too limited with my technical skills with particles handling and I need a VFX specialist.
