Hello all We're looking for a freelance Houdini artist to help us with some crowd simulations. I think it's relatively simple. Crowds need to form basic shapes (circles, rectangles, giant bar graphs, large numbers) and then dissipate. Remote / freelance needed in the next 2-3 weeks but sooner the better. Artist Michelle Lopez is seeking a part-time temporary mid-senior level animator to modify an existing 360 degree animation of an explosion depicting moving debris. Seeking artist with 3-5 years production Houdini experience and 1-2 years Nuke experience for 1-3 weeks of remote work, freelance flexible schedule. The video will be one aspect of an immersive video and sound installation to be presented at the Franklin Institute Planetarium in Philadelphia. The video brings together natural disasters, cultural iconography, the aftermath of violence and visualizations of entropy. My studio is needing a dynamic particle Houdini Rig for a shoe spot. We need particles (in this case they are small pellet shaped geo) to fly in from off screen and then fill the volume of a target object. In this case it will be the mid-sole of a shoe. Those pellets should have dynamic collisions and as they come together to create the object, they compress into the volume so that the exterior shape of the object is smooth and there are no spaces between the pellets as they compress together to form that target object (which in this case is the mid-sole of a shoe) . We just need the rig and would make adjustments, lighting, materials on our end. Thanks all!! I have attached a visual example which is hopefully helpful. Hi Odforce members, I have a fairly simple (I hope) Houdini simulation project setup I need tackling by an experienced Houdini artist/TD. This is a paid project at US/UK rates. I'm an experienced 3D animator but a novice Houdini user and I need to outsource this part of a project I'm working on due the fairly unique use case (at least to me) of the simulation setup I need for this particular project. Essentially, I need a .hip network that spawns pre-fractured RBDs, that break into fractured pieces only when contacting specific animated geometry i.e. a grinding screen, high rpm pulverizer etc The deliverable would be a houdini indie .hip file I can plug 2 alembic sequences into. One for the passive bodies / sim container. The other for the active bodies that will shatter the spawned RBDs on contact. Ideally I could also set a starting velocity for the RBDs, other than default gravity, but that would be an extension goal. As far as I can tell, such setups are possible to achieve and I have been able to find and modify the example .hip attached to this message. I'm looking for basically the same behavior you see when the particles hit the ground plane in the .hip file. The particles don't shatter when they collide with each other, but they do when they hit the ground. As understand it, it's setup in this file so each spawned particle is a pre-fractured RBD sphere, with some kind of glue force holding the pieces together until another object in the sim impacts the particle at a velocity high enough to cause the glue forces to break. Ideally I'm looking for the glue forces to break only when contacting specific geometry. However if this is technically un-achievable (please feel free to advise), I'd need a global attribute / input clearly shown in the top level node graph that would allow me to control the velocity setting / threshold to trigger the shattering. The pre-fractured RBD should be no more than 8 total objects, to keep the sim time as low as possible. I'm also not looking for you to run the sim as I'll need to tweak the settings as needed. If you think this is something you'd be able to tackle, please send a quote to adam@renderkick.co.uk If you are able to send me a screen capture of the working setup before payment is made that would be preferred (don't worry you can keep your node graph hidden! I'm not looking to rip anyone off!). I'm working to a pretty tight deadline, so I'd need the files delivering no later than Thursday 14th March. Hope to hear back from some of you soon. Hey guys, After a few years of freelancing as a Houdini Developer and Pipeline Developer I am a bit tired of the not have a decent tool for me 3D artists. My friend and I decided to make something for it but I think we need to some critical feedback! We are trying to create a platform for Indie Artists to upload, review, and get paid for the jobs we do ( and handle invoicing and the office stuff). This has been a problem that has bothered us for a while but we want to see if there is anyone else out there having this problem. indiepay.io I have been working creating a cloud pipeline specifically for houdini but I need some help, my friend and I have a good workflow for working remotely with each other and utilizing tools houdini. we have pretty much created a light weight asset managment system that can virtualize a central server between multiple machines. It is still very much in the beginning but after working with shotgun, tactic, and a few others I got tired of spend hours just setting a system so my friends and I could work together on freelance projects and have a pipeline that integrated with tools like gridmarkets. Eager to hear some of your thoughts!

Hey guys, I'm currently looking at FX TD career opportunities in New York. I'm open to working freelance, either on-site or remotely, and long term positions. My experience is nearly 2 years using Houdini. It was taught as the main software in my Master's program - Digital Effects at Bournemouth University, UK. After my graduation, I worked at Framestore NY on TV, commercials and VR. I had a 6 month contract with Framestore, which unfortunately they weren't able to renew due to scheduling and budgeting. References available upon request. In my time using Houdini, I have created a wide array of effects to a high level. These include: fluids, cloth, smoke, hair & fur, RBDs, soft bodies, particles, pyro/volumes. I also have a excellent knowledge of the vfx pipeline due to my professional experience and having worked on my own personal projects during my student days.
